On Tuesday, May 29, the release date for the book, Mrs. Obama will appear on Good Morning America, The View and on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. On Wednesday, May 30, Mrs. Obama will appear on LIVE! with Kelly, with this interview scheduled to air on a later date. Mrs. Obama has previously appeared on all of these shows.
Her first outing as an author, the book includes recipes and gardening tips. It will retail in the US market for $30 as a hardcover, and Kindle and audio editions will be available too. Mrs. Obama accepted no advance for the project, and will donate her author proceeds to the National Park Foundation, the East Wing announced on Wednesday.
"All author proceeds will go to the National Park Foundation, the official charity of America’s national parks," said the First Lady's Office. "Funds will be used for programs that promote gardening and healthy eating and give young people the opportunity to experience the outdoors and lead more active lives, as well as for the continued care of the White House Kitchen Garden."
Random House, parent of Crown Publishing, will also donate a portion of its profits to the National Park Foundation, according to the First Lady's Office.
"The book offers a look at the first vegetable garden at the White House since Eleanor Roosevelt’s Victory Garden and shares inspiring stories of Americans from across the country who are actively engaged in community, school, and urban gardens," the First Lady's Office said.
Last Thursday, the website for Mrs. Obama's childhood obesity campaign, LetsMove.gov, unveiled a comprehensive new Gardening Guide for families, schools and communities.

The First Lady's book now has a Facebook page (and a faux Twitter account and website, too).
In recent months, the First Lady has appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Biggest Loser, Ellen, and iCarly, among other shows, to promote her Let's Move! and Joining Forces campaigns.

The 256-page hardcover edition of American Grown is currently available for pre-order on Amazon.com at the bargain price of $19.20.
