Kids across the US will once again gather to groove to 'Move Your Body'...the video has had more than 19.4 million YouTube hits..."One year ago today, I teamed up with Beyoncé to show kids all across the country that being active isn't just good for you--it's fun, too," First Lady Michelle Obama said in a statement marking the anniversary of the Let's Move! Flash Workout, created by Grammy-award winning popstar Beyoncé. Mrs. Obama proved her point about fun: During a surprise visit to DC's Alice Deal Middle School on May 3, 2011, she joined more than 450 kids as they did the Dougie, the Cha Cha and the Running Man on the sports field, under a blazing sun. Thousands of kids in
more than 600 Middle Schools across the US were simultaneously jumping, clapping, and giving attitude as they danced to Beyoncé's "Move Your Body," written and recorded just for the First Lady's childhood obesity campaign. The pop diva herself was in Harlem, rocking with a mob of kids in the gym at P.S. 161. Today, the bottled water company WAT-AAH! is leading a one-year anniversary celebration, and replicating last year's dance-in across the US, with the support of Beyoncé and the National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation (NABEF), which partnered to create the song and video. (Above: Beyoncé in the t-shirt she designed for the event)Mrs. Obama has had the support of all kinds of celebs and sports stars for the Let's Move! campaign, but Beyoncé is perhaps the most famous individual to lend her star power to promoting child health, and her participation is a history maker. A year after its release, the video for Beyoncé's Let's Move! version of her song "Get Me Bodied" has gone beyond viral: It has now had more than 19.4 million views on YouTube.

"With the extraordinary success of last year's movement, people around the world became aware of the impact childhood obesity has on the lives of our children," said NABEF president Marcellus Alexander. "This year, we are all pleased to support WAT-AAH!, the students, schools, and organizations that have joined together for a fun exercise routine that reinforces the Let's Move! message about the benefits of healthy diet and exercise."
In her anniversary statement, the First Lady noted that even the groove-impaired can exercise, too.
"You don't only have to dance in a flash mob to get moving," Mrs. Obama said. "Whether it's hula hooping, playing sports or just going for a walk, all kids can find a way to be active for 60 minutes a day and eat nutritious, delicious food so they grow up healthy and strong."
Today's anniversary Flash Workout event will be at 1:42 PM across time zones, just like last year's.
The kids at Alice Deal really were surprised when the First Lady arrived last year; her motorcade had no lights or sirens as she pulled up to the school. When she appeared on the field where the kids were gathered to dance, there were shrieks of excitement. It was close to 90 degrees, but the kids did the entire Flash Workout twice. (Above: Kids at Alice Deal performing for Mrs. Obama)Beyoncé had released a separate video with the choreography, and the kids had been learning the steps in gym class. Spanish language versions of the videos were released, too.
NABEF released this mash-up video showing kids in schools across the US participating in the event last year:
During last year's event, five schools in Canada and one Department of Defense school located on Misawa Air Base in Japan also participated. There were even kids in a school in Afghanistan participating.

The kids at Harlem's P.S. 161 were as surprised as the kids Mrs. Obama danced with: Beyoncé ran into the gym after they'd already started dancing.
WAT-AAH! is a line of "functional water" for kids and teens that does not free of sugar or sweeteners of any kind, and parent company Cameron bills it as an alternative to soda and sugary beverages.
